ET need something like this too ... can ETTV copy this Q3TV netcode (or whatever it is)?
Someone should write up a FAQ explaining the different broadcasting methods/servers. Should avoid needing to answer these questions over and over again.

(arni correct me if I'm wrong)
1. ETTV streams all data available and sends each client only the data he wants to have. This increases the server load (compared to GTV/WTV), but every client can see what he wants.
2. GTV/WTV uses a camman. Whatever the camman sees, sees the client. The client is not able to watch what he wants (the exception beeing cpma with multiview). -> Lower serverload.
That's you can have more slots with GTV/WTV compared to ETTV.
(oh, and gtv/wtv is closed source and thus not available for ettv)
On ETTV, you get all the information a regular spectator/shoutcaster on the server would get...so ETTVs are basically like 100 slot game servers for ET.

Now the fact is that for ETTV, you need to send data about the (crosshair) movement of all players on the match server and the current state of all objectives and entities. For Quake3, you have two players on a very small map (compared to ET), so it's no surprise there's less data to be sent and less CPU usage.
in quake3 the server almost always sends the whole world to the player or viewer - this is possible because maps are much smaller and hardly have interactive objects (doors, destroyables, constructables, moving objects)

so because every client gets everything its no problem to just relay that to viewers

in et there is MUCH more data, and to follow the rate ristriction of 25kbyte/s per player and client the server has to be selective in what it sends to its clients or in the case of ettv its viewers.
This is why ettv servers need much more cpu, because they have to judge which clients will need what data to draw the part of the world it currently sees.
Which is why I love ETTV.
