Frequently Asked Questions » Urban Terror
With automated UrbanTerror casting on it's way, here are some tips how to make viewing it more enjoyable:
In case you don't have Urban Terror, you can download it here for free.
1. Multiple Views
You cannot spec anybody you want but only the one player the server is streaming. GTV does however support Multiview: There can be several streams from a match, all following someone else. Matches with official GamesTV.org coverage will always have at least 2 streams. You can switch through the different views with a simple shortcut: gtv_nextview (instantaneously, no mapreload or anything required), we recommend binding it:
bind n "gtv_nextview"
2. The Lobby
When connecting to a tv server you'll likely get to the "Lobby" which is basically a waiting room with a list of streams available on the server. You can join any match by either typing "gtv_view x" where x is the match, or by entering "gtv_nextgame" which is easier since there'll probably always be only one match per time on a server:
bind m "gtv_nextgame"
3. Mapchanges
Since GTV (the broadcasting software) is very beta, we're working around some issues regarding mapchanges.
What will happen to you after a mapchange: You will load the "Lobby" map twice, after that you're in the lobby and can rejoin the stream (see "2. The Lobby" above). When joining the stream you'll then load the map that is played on the matchserver. This is a bit inconvenient but fortunately loading maps is very quick in UrT.
4. Shoutcasts
Watching matches with a shoutcast is far more fun. How to get the shoutcast synchronized to the match is explained in this faq.
5. OnDemand Services
Every match broadcasted through official GamesTV.org coverage will be available for viewing on demand - any time you like. As nice as multiview during livecasts is - unfortunately it is not possible when watching demos on demand :( You can switch between the views but every switch will require a map reload.
BUT: We do record all views that we broadcast and also make them available through the ondemand-system. It may look ridicoulus, but it works ;)
Just open 2 instances of UrbanTerror and select one view for every instance.
