iTG's New Blood (1422 Views)

If you haven't heard of Radio iTG it's safe to say you're a bit of a jaffa. Spreading over the wide spectrum of games and being closely tangled with ClanBase, GGL and various other leagues, Radio iTG is the web's major shoutcasting organisation. ET players know iTG mostly due to the voices heard on major ET games over the past years. TosspoT, djWHEAT; hell even the headmistress trillian has added her sweet tones to the gaming world.
But today iTG have added a new face to their ranks that promises to move them clearly into the future. Who?! I hear you scream. Starting his life on GAMESTV.ORG, this very shoutcaster wouldn't be afraid to set his time aside to shoutcast even the "lowbie" games that needed the attention they sorely missed. Some mark his shoutcasting methods as "unconvetional" but let's face it; being accepted into gaming's most influential shoutcasting company doesn't happen to everyone.
It'll come to no shock to most people that iTG's newest crew member is our very own FlyingDJ. DJ might lose the gtv tags now but he's still the top guy that GTV has come to rely on. We pick his brains on life, iTG, TosspoT's attraction to men and maybe some shoutcasting stuff.
DJ, German, FDJ... so many names. Start by giving us your ins-and-outs. Who are you?[/b]
Since I'm doing English shoutcasts, the German part is a bit underrepresented ;-) I have been FDJ on the Internet for a very long time, because gaming was always something I loved to do. The DJ part didn't come out that much until the end of 2005, when I tried to close the gaping hole Toss had left. Since student life leaves me a lot of free time, it was quite easy to stay committed.
A little rumour I heard says that the BEST iTG shoutcasters have DJ in their name. Is this true?[/b]
That's definitely the case when it comes to djWHEAT. As for me, I'll try to do everything not to be the exception when it comes to this rumour. Anyway, I think there are some decent iTG shoutcasters who do not wear the DJ tag, too ;-)
Where did you start your shoutcasting journey?[/b]
My first game ever was the final of the TF Cup, wArning vs uQ / parodia...I just wanted to give it a shot, try to see how I perform when casting (in English!). People liked it and I kept going...ClanBase gave me the opportunity to cast most of the EC matches and I became quite popular. I joined up with gamestv then, where I received a lot of support for my casting. The rest is history.
We're nosey. History is what we want! Since that very first cast - have you kept some sort of tally on how many games you've casted?[/b]
My recorded casts amount to about 40, the first ones (and some in between) were not recorded, so I guess I have done about 50-60 casts for ET. Wow, I have really done so many? It even surprises me.
Show off. Have you shoutcasted any other games? Any plans to?[/b]
I have done some casting for Counter-Strike (only private ones for friends though) and I might do a bit more of it. I am about to start casting CoD 2 and Warhammer 40K.
Although you've only been tied to iTG for a few hours officially; have they already prepared you a massive shoutcasting schedule?[/b]
The massive schedule is courtesy of Toss at the moment, who is really going coverage crazy this week ;-) However, I am still free to pick the games I like to cast (will be EC qualifiers for this week), but now that I am with iTG, you might see ET dual casts with Toss in the near future.
At what point did you decide to apply to iTG? Who or what influenced your decision?[/b]
I have always been very ambitious. After I had done the EC final, I decided it was time to take my casting a step further. iTG is very prestigious, and after all Toss was a part of it. So I decided to apply to iTG, talked to some of the CEOs there and here I am!
Aren't you slightly worried that TosspoT is rather forthcoming with members of the male variety?[/b]
I am already looking forward to a threesome with Toss and you. I'm sure it will be nasty.
I don't think lunachick would be too happy with that idea. Now, iTG don't just stick around on the web. They cover massive LANs including the EuroCup finals. Are you "mobile" enough to be able to run away to these exotic locations?[/b]
Did I already mention I am leading a student's life? I am, which leaves me with the advantage of a very flexible schedule. So I think that there is the slight possiblity that you will see me covering a LAN event at some time - let's hope Quakecon gets an ET tournament!
OK some gritty stuff. In your opinion - the best match you've shoutcasted?[/b]
Unfortunately, the EC final was not as electric as it should have been. So without a doubt it was the game 141 vs. idle, where idle were able to hold the truck with the gold for a full 5 minutes. When it comes to German casts, the recent NC final was awesome, giving me a new listener peak of 365.
How about the worst?[/b]
There was a game where I spent 15 minutes talking about my experiences with pupils because it had been a fullhold in the first round, so the match was already decided. It was in the 5on5 test cup if I recall that correctly...it was fun for me, but the game itself was just extremely boring for the listeners. And I remember a match where gods faced uQ, and after a delay of 20 minutes gods said they didn't have 6 and the match was therefore cancelled.
In the shoutcasting world, is there a certain someone you admire and look up to?[/b]
TosspoT for sure, his casts are just top notch, he has given me tremendous support and it was because of him that I started casting. WarWitch has an awesome casting voice and style. And I really like SyN and his shows and casts.
As an admin, a gamer AND a Welshman I have never been happy with the lack of Tom Jones you play during your shoutcasts. Will your move to iTG broaden your music taste?[/b]
Err, Tom Jones? "Sex Bomb"? Jesus...
That's me! Well allow me to congratulate you on behalf of GAMESTV.ORG for ditching us for those hybrid Americans (I joke, I joke.) I trust, however that we'll still see you 'round these parts?[/b]
I will still be around to help improve the greatest coverage page ever, and ETTV coverage is not affected by me joining iTG, either.
Super! Dare I enter the realm of cheesy-ness and ask you to give any special thanks or shoutouts?[/b]
I like to thank iTG for taking the risk of adding a German to their crew, I hope I can live up to the expectations. I thank all those who have let me cast their matches, especially ClanBase and Warleagues. I want to thank you, arni and the rest of gamestv for an awesome page and incredible coverage. Kudos to TEAM-ZENITH who provided my first shoutcast server and without whom I could not have started. And finally, I thank all those who listen, give feedback and advice, it's what keeps me going and you couldn't make me any happier.
Be sure to keep an eye on the schedule for FlyingDJ's upcoming shoutcasts!

there is no bug in the system to say it for the last time - a maximum reply level of 4 has been set as a feature - i can put a reply button behind every post if you like but it will still not align deeper than 4 levels
