CB Enemy Territory switches back to 6on6 (6709 Views)

Today Clanbase will return its supported format of 5v5 back to 6v6.
Over the past weeks, ClanBase took one of its largest risks in order to (arguably) improve the current state of Enemy Territory and see if 5v5 could become the accepted team size within the scene in order to improve the enjoyment of the game itself and increase its chances of getting EuroCup LAN Finals.
With these goals in mind, ClanBase announced in full that all cups and ladders would be converted to 5v5 in order to give it a fair chance to test its feasibility within the scene. It became one of the largest overhauls ever done in any gaming community to fully test the level of acceptance within the community.
Just as a political party tries to pass a bill and campaigns to gain a majority of support, the ClanBase ET crew felt this was the prime chance of improving the game and make this game more suitable for LAN events. In addition, with that, there is only one way and that is by giving it full support stating that all cups and ladders would go 5v5.
However, now with the first real testcase of the 5v5 format, the start of the NationsCup, it has clearly proven that most competitive gamers prefer 6on6 to 5on5. For us, the past week was an important reality check to see what gamers really preferred. Now, taking all feedback in mind, it has shown that the community has chosen 6v6.
Therefore, we are not the last to admit that 6v6 is the gaming format that ClanBase should support. It is in ET's worst interest to have two separate competitive communities. We feel that we have at least tried to show the ET community what the 5on5 offered and give every gamer the opportunity to make a much more informed choice than without our actions over the two months to support 5v5.
The ClanBase crew wishes to thank all gamers that have tried the 5on5 or fully embraced it even. However, in the end, it is the gamer's vote that matters and we have never forgotten about that.
We might have failed sticking with 5v5. However, ClanBase ET crew feels that the real mistake would have been committed if we would have pushed a large portion of the ET community, that have ClanBase as their home for their competitive gaming, into a format they would not feel comfortable with. Something ClanBase would never have wanted to do.
For those 5v5 fans out there, ClanBase will continue to support those that like the game play in the 5v5 ladder and 5v5 cups in the near future, fitting the size of the demand.
As of immediately, the upcoming Nations Cup and to be announced EuroCup and OpenCup will be totally 6on6.
To close this announcement with are more personal message: At least we dared to try!

changes need time, try working your way towards 5on5 this time so we can have a 5on5 ec and nc next year :P
well, 5on5 stays, so maybe more and more players and clans will check it out, and eventually come to the conclusion they like it. :)
well done
hell yeah <3
hahahahahahahahaha
You didn't really try to show us why 5on5 should be > than 6on6 , it's all just about LANS and money , imo. I never found any other argumentation than that , cause 5on5 can be fun for sure, it's just your argumentation that sucked.
How do you want a new format to work , when you don't tell people what's good if changes are made?
