News and Blogsystem updated (4559 Views)

During the past week there has been some work on the news and blogsystem to optimise the user interface and to fully implement the idea of G-Points.
GamesTV.org uses G-Points to judge the level of trust we give a certain user. Every new user starts with 0 Points which means that we do not give any special rights to him. This means that we require validation of every news or blogpost this user makes.
With more points the user is allowed to contribute more and more things without needing the "ok" from an admin for this.
You will receive trust points for the following actions:
* Registered for more than 1 Week +5 Points
* Submitting a News which is validated +2 Points
* Submitting a Blog which is validated +1 Point
On the other hand you lose points for:
* Directly posting a news that is deleted for spam -5 Points
* Submitting a news for validation that is deleted for spam -2 Points
* Directly posting a blog that is deleted for spam -3 Points
* Submitting a blog for validation that is deleted for spam -1 Point
* A comment that is deleted due to not meeting posting guidelines -1 Point
You do not lose any points for posts that are rejected for different reasons (not abusive) or on personal request.
What the points do
* 5 G-Points You can directly post to the user blogs without prior activation (Limited to one post per 3 hours)
* 10 G-Points You can directly write news onto our startpage without any activation (Limited to one news per 6 hours)
Your current G-Points can be viewed on your user page.
Yeah, but why?
Other communities allow every user to post stuff directly and immediately, here is the reason why we dont:
We want to fight spam before it happens to ensure a high quality of information on this page. This is why new users will have to "earn trust" before they are allowed to post without anti-spam moderation.
We do not moderate posts to censor your opinion or similar - the only reason is to avoid posts that do not follow our Posting Guidelines
More Changes
* Bigger editing areas on larger screen resolutions
* Preview now available everywhere
* Preview/Edit/New use the same, clean layout
* Teasier is automatically created
* Minor layout changes
* Directly visible if validation is required when posting
* "Flowery" messages added to tell you what happens
* Changes of posts limited to 10% for "untrusted" users before reactivation is required
I hope you like the changes, comments or further ideas are welcome

I have a question though, what is to be considered spam and what is not? Are useless blogs with video's spam? Are clanless blogs spam? etc.
you can generally post anything that has any reason for posting other than spam
very vague but we really only want to fight the real spam not fight the fun people have with questionable posts ;-)
--> So generally: as long as there is any sense visible - go ahead.

very nice :-))
It goes without saying that GTV has made it much further than it was originally because of our dear arni.
Thanks for the continued effort matey boy.

wasnt sure you liked the changes;
biggest discussions between ak and me are about colours of few completely unimportant pixels or 6 or 10 pixels cellpadding.
(10 pixels here actually ;-) )
