North American All-Stars Event (5647 Views)

Welcome to the North American All-Stars Event, hosted by Wolfenstein Central! After the Canada All-Stars in June, I have decided to team up with several North American players to administrate a cup for the whole continent. This includes Canada, USA, and also Mexico. The cup will begin in early January of 2009, but signup will begin immediately so teams can begin practicing for this event. All matches will be broadcasted on ETTV, and 16 teams will be placed into 4 groups. The top 2 teams from each group will enter a double elimination playoff round after playing round robin in the group stage. In general, this event will follow the same format as EuroCup and likely span several weeks time. More specific dates will be given at a later time. Hopefully, the cup will have more participation and enthusiasm this time around since it now appeals to all North American players!
In order to keep this event as clean as possible, are there any members in the community with cheater-busting skills who are willing to help me check if registered players are clean or not? I would really appreciate it!
Registration at Wolfenstein Central will be necessary so that team rosters can be set up and guids can be added/checked.

Note that you can sign up for this cup only if you are from North America. Team Captains will be selected on November 15, 2008. After that, it is up to captains to select players for their team from the list of players that have applied for their region. All rosters should be sent to me (jrkevinfang@gmail.com) by December 31, 2008. This should give teams plenty of time to practice, try out players, and secure a lineup.
Also, I need some North American admins to help me with this cup and also to referee matches. If you are interested, send an email to me with the following information:
1. Name
2. Job you are applying for: (referee, newswriter, anti-cheat, organizer)
3. Previous admin experience
4. How many hours per week are you willing to dedicate to this cup?
5. Why should I select you as an admin?

The staff of the North American All-Stars Event has also managed to create a North American ladder. We will likely let teams choose what format they want to play, so you can play 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, or 6v6 in this ladder.
Anyhow, we are planning to start to get the word out to as many players as possible. This will be slightly different from STA and ETL; rather than appealing solely to the super competitive players in North America, we are trying to attract anybody willing to learn how to scrim, and just to have fun. There wont be any awards for these ladders, they will resemble EU ladders and my purpose for doing this is just to allow members of the NA community to start forming teams, getting out there and having fun, and basically to bring the NA scene back to life again. Of course, the competitive guys will be in these ladders too and I personally think we should start off with them and then slowly advertise to other people to join the ladder and to form teams with others who are clanless and interested. At the same time, we will try to gather everybody in the ET scene into Crossfire (since thats where the majority of ET players are right now) and hence make it easier for the EU players to communicate and play with NA players.
Ultimately, I want the NA All-Stars Event to be a jump-pad for this ladder and basically to get North Americans hyped up, so I will use the same format/rules/configs for the Event as what I plan to use for the ladders. Anybody who is interested in this idea and is willing to help out, feel free to drop me a message. It is preferred that you are from North America, which makes meeting times more convenient for everyone.
