Last week, we saw the launch of the #ET IRC channel - a place for the community to gather together to not only maintain but also build on the current activity level of our favorite game. It's great to see so much interest, approval, contribution, and overall involvement from so many people in the community as well as the contact that has been made with communities outside of Crossfire.nu. Peaking at 220 idlers in only a few days, #ET has shown us that there are still enough active players remaining to try running some cups which have been requested by our community.



So without further ado, we are proud to present the first edition of the 6on6 #ET Draft Tournament! Now, you may be thinking: "Oh, this is just another cup for friends only or top players only..." If you are thinking that, however, you are WRONG! This tournament will feature open signups, meaning that any and all players are welcome to sign up to participate. We plan to prepare a few pools of players organized by class and skill level, and captains will only be able to choose 1 or 2 players from each pool. (It's hard to explain right now, since we haven't actually created the pools yet and will of course wait for signups to end to do so.)

The tournament will take place in the form of a one-day cup on this Sunday - 27/01/2013. The first games should start around 18:00 CET. Now, let's meet the admin crew and the captains!

Admins / Support: Captains:Now that you're aware of who is in charge of the event and who will be leading the teams, we can start discussing signups. As stated above, anyone can sign up to the cup but it's up to the captains whether or not you are chosen to participate as a player (All can participate as spectators!).

To sign up for the #ET Draft Tournament, send a Private Message on Crossfire to pl lewcins or /query him (lewcins) on IRC with the following information:
  • Your nickname

  • Your nation

  • Your preferred class (engi smg, fops, reviving medic, etc. - Keep in mind that the captains will most likely play rifle for their teams.)

  • Your skill level (low+, med, med+, etc. - Please be honest! This will help us make decent pools.)

  • Your ClanBase account (http://clanbase.ggl.com/humaninfo.php?hid=xxxxx - Make sure your TZAC GUID is registered.)

  • One map that you'd like to see in the maplist (besides the 4 maps listed below)

Signups are open NOW and will remain open until Sunday 27/01/2013 at 12:00 CET.

To help lessen the chance of dropouts occurring, you must confirm your signup before Sunday 27/01/2013 at 14:00 CET! This so-called "check-in" phase starts at 19:00 CET on Saturday 26/01/2013. In order to confirm your availability to participate in the cup, send a PM to fanatic or lewcins here on Crossfire or on IRC at #ET.

Why are we forcing players to check-in? We intend to work on the pools from 14:00 - 16:00 on Sunday, so we have to be certain that all players who signed up will be 100% available to play. If you fail to confirm your signup, you will be removed from the list of players. Also, please note that checking-in but not showing up will result in a ban from all further #ET tournaments.

The draft will take place on #ET around 16:00 CET.

  • Cup formula:

    • 6vs6 format

    • There will be 2 groups, with 4 teams in each group.

    • The Groupstage will consist 3 rounds.

    • The Playoffs will be single-elimination style (including Semi-finals + Grand Final & Bronze Final)

    • All matches are BO3 (best-of-three).

    • Each match will be broadcasted on GamesTV.

    • This is a ONE-DAY CUP!

I have a teamspeak server that is currently set on 250 slots, i can raise it up to 512.
